After more than a decade photographing weddings across Banderas Bay, I’ve learned every venue has its own light, its own rhythm, and its own quirks. Here are the ten I love most — and what you should actually know about each before you book.
Puerto Vallarta is one of the world’s great destination-wedding cities for a reason: jungle meets the Pacific, the light is long and golden, and the hospitality is genuine. But "best" depends entirely on your guest count, your style and how you want the day to feel. Below I’ve grouped my favorites by the kind of wedding they suit best.
Boat-access beach & jungle
1. Las Caletas
Accessible only by boat, Las Caletas is the quintessential Vallarta dream — a private cove ringed by jungle, with a barefoot beach ceremony and torch-lit reception. The boat ride builds anticipation, and the sunset over Banderas Bay is unmatched. Photographer’s note: the light here at golden hour is the best in the bay; build your timeline so portraits land 60 minutes before sunset.
2. Majahuitas
Smaller and even more secluded than Las Caletas, Majahuitas is for couples who want true privacy and an eco-luxury feel. Limited power and a remote location mean logistics matter — a strong planner is essential.

Modern luxury resorts
3. Hotel Mousai & Garza Blanca
For couples who want contemporary design, rooftop receptions and five-star service, the Mousai/Garza Blanca complex south of town is hard to beat. Sleek architecture, dramatic infinity pools and reliable vendor infrastructure. Great for guest comfort.
4. Conrad Punta de Mita
Just over the Nayarit line, the Conrad delivers polished beachfront luxury with sweeping ocean views and impeccable planning support — a favorite for larger celebrations that still feel refined.
5. Marriott CasaMagna
Centrally located in the Hotel Zone with a turtle-sanctuary beach, the Marriott is a dependable all-rounder — strong catering, easy logistics, and convenient for guests who want to be near the airport and town.
Intimate & design-led
6. Hacienda San Angel
Perched above the old town with the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe framed behind, this restored hacienda is pure romance — antiques, bougainvillea, and a rooftop with the best town-and-bay view in Vallarta. Ideal for 10–80 guests.
7. Casa Karma
A boutique cliffside villa in Conchas Chinas with architectural infinity edges and total privacy — perfect for an elopement or a small, design-conscious wedding.
8. Le Kliff
Built into the cliffs south of town, Le Kliff offers one of the most dramatic ceremony backdrops anywhere — open-air palapa, crashing surf, 270-degree ocean. Spectacular at sunset.
In-town character
9. The Romantic Zone (Zona Romántica)
For couples who love a city feel, rooftop venues and restaurants around Olas Altas and Los Muertos let you weave cobblestone streets, string lights and local flavor into the day.
10. Private villas of Conchas Chinas
"The Beverly Hills of Vallarta" is full of architectural villas you can rent for multi-day weddings — the most personal, flexible option if you want everyone under one roof.
Quick planning facts
- Book 9–12 months ahead for peak-season dates (Nov–May).
- Hire a local planner — non-negotiable for a smooth destination wedding.
- Visit if you can, or lean on local vendors who know each venue’s light and flow.
- Ask about sunset time on your date and build the timeline around it.
Wherever you land, the venue is only half the story — the other half is having someone who knows how to photograph it. If you’d like help matching your guest count and style to the right location, get in touch; I’m always happy to talk venues, even before you book.
