I photograph weddings the way you'll want to remember them — honestly. Not stiff, not posed to death, but real: the laugh that catches you off guard, the tear your dad tries to hide, the light coming off the Pacific at exactly the right moment.

In Short

Wedding Vallarta is an editorial, candid wedding photography studio based in Puerto Vallarta, México, led by Alonso Reyes. Two photographers are included on every wedding, galleries are delivered in two to three weeks, and collections start at $1,399 USD. We cover all of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit and travel worldwide.

A documentary approach, with an editorial eye

There are two ways to photograph a wedding. One is to direct it — to pause the day for shot after posed shot. The other is to document it, stepping back so the day belongs to you, and bringing an editorial eye to light, composition and timing. I work the second way.

Beyond family formals, I don't shoot from a rigid list. Your images feel a thousand times more genuine when the day is allowed to breathe — and I promise I'll never miss the dress, the rings, the first look or the first dance. That blend of documentary instinct and editorial craft is what makes the gallery feel like you, years from now.

What's always included

The gear behind the images

Craft matters more than equipment, but couples ask — so: I shoot a Sony A7R IV with a set of fast primes (20mm, my favorite 35mm, 85mm, 105mm, 135mm) and a 70–180mm zoom for ceremonies and reach. Film is captured on a Sony A7C II. I carry backup bodies, lenses and cards to every wedding, because there are no second chances on a wedding day.

One photographer or two? The honest answer

Why two photographers

  • Both reactions during the first look and vows
  • Wide and tight, same moment
  • Getting-ready coverage in two rooms at once
  • A safety net if anything ever fails

When one can be enough

  • Very small elopements (2–10 guests)
  • Tight budgets where film matters more
  • A single, compact venue with no travel

For a full wedding day, two is the right call — which is why it's standard in every Wedding Vallarta collection rather than an upsell.

Where I photograph

I'm based in Puerto Vallarta and know its venues, light and rhythm intimately — from boat-access beaches like Las Caletas to the cliffside villas of Conchas Chinas and the luxury resorts of Punta de Mita. I also travel often to Los Angeles, Denver, Santa Barbara and Mexico City. Explore weddings by location or see the full portfolio.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Puerto Vallarta?
Professional wedding photography in Puerto Vallarta generally runs from about $1,400 to $4,000 USD. At Wedding Vallarta, collections start at $1,399 USD for 8 hours with two photographers and go up to $3,899 USD for multi-day photo and film. Every collection includes a private online gallery and a 50-photo sneak peek within 24 hours.
Should I hire one photographer or two?
Two. A second photographer captures reactions, angles and moments a single shooter physically can't be in two places for — the groom's face during the first look while someone else is on the bride, the guests during the vows, wide and tight at once. Every Wedding Vallarta collection includes two photographers as standard.
How many hours of coverage should I book?
Most weddings need 8 to 10 hours to cover getting-ready through the open dance floor. If you have a first look, a large bridal party, or events spread across the day, lean toward 10. For multi-day celebrations, the 3-Day collection covers each event.
How far in advance should I book my photographer?
About six months is typical, and peak-season weekends (November–May) fill first. For destination dates, earlier is better so I can hold the days around your celebration and help with travel logistics.
How long until we receive our wedding photos?
A sneak peek of 50 edited images goes up within 24 hours. Your full gallery is delivered in two to three weeks through a private online gallery with unlimited downloads for one year.
Do you photograph LGBTQ+ weddings?
Absolutely, and joyfully. Love is love — every couple is welcome here, and I'd be honored to tell your story.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes. I'm based in Puerto Vallarta and shoot throughout Riviera Nayarit, and I travel regularly to Los Angeles, Denver, Santa Barbara and Mexico City — and worldwide for destination celebrations.
What camera gear do you use?
I shoot with a Sony A7R IV and a range of prime and zoom lenses (20mm, 35mm, 85mm, 105mm, 135mm and a 70–180mm), with the 35mm being my favorite for candid storytelling. Film coverage is captured on a Sony A7C II. I always carry backup bodies and cards.
Do you shoot in the rain?
Yes — some of the most romantic images happen under umbrellas and dramatic skies. We'll always have a covered backup plan with your venue, but a little rain never stops the story.
What is your photography style?
Candid, editorial and cinematic. I document rather than pose — a few gentle prompts aside, I let the day unfold so the images feel like the day actually felt. The edit is natural and timeless, with a film-inspired touch rather than heavy trends that date quickly.
